Pain Free Odisha is proud to share a meaningful milestone in its journey to spread awareness and education about pain management in Odisha. Recently, Dr. Shovan Kumar Rath, Founder and Chief Consultant of Pain Free Odisha, visited the newly inaugurated Pain Clinic at MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, and had the opportunity to interact with postgraduate medical students.
A Milestone for Pain Management Education in Odisha
The establishment of a dedicated Pain Clinic at MKCG Medical College marks a new chapter in Odisha’s healthcare journey. This initiative aims to strengthen interventional pain care services in the state and educate the next generation of doctors on modern, evidence-based, non-surgical pain treatment methods.
During his visit, Dr. Rath conducted an interactive session with PG students, sharing deep insights into:
- The science of chronic pain
- Importance of early intervention
- Advanced techniques like ultrasound-guided nerve blocks
- Multimodal and holistic approaches to pain relief
Insights from Dr. Shovan Kumar Rath
“It was a truly fulfilling experience to witness the enthusiasm of young doctors and to contribute to their understanding of pain as a complex condition, not just a symptom. Educating future healthcare leaders is key to building a truly Pain-Free Odisha.”
Fostering a Culture of Pain Literacy
The session went beyond textbooks — it ignited conversations around patient empathy, pain as a public health issue, and the need for structured pain services in all tertiary hospitals. Dr. Rath also emphasized the growing role of the Indian Society for Study of Pain (ISSP) in shaping pain medicine in India.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the faculty and administration of MKCG Medical College for the warm welcome and the opportunity to be part of this significant step forward. It is collaborations like these that inspire our continued mission to promote pain awareness, training, and treatment accessibility throughout Odisha.
With growing awareness, dedicated clinics, and trained doctors, the future of pain management in Odisha is brighter than ever. Pain Free Odisha remains committed to:
- Supporting pain education
- Conducting awareness talks and CMEs
- Advancing non-surgical treatment options for chronic pain sufferers
Let us continue working together to create an ecosystem where no one suffers in silence.
