Pain Free Odisha is delighted to share that our Founder and Director, Prof. (Dr.) Shovan Kumar Rath, represented our organization at AGPUCON 1.0 – AIIMS Gorakhpur Pain Update 2025, an International Conference and Workshop held on 1st & 2nd November 2025.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Ultrasound in Pain Medicine – Precision Redefined,” focused on enhancing accuracy and innovation in pain management procedures.
“RFA vs PBC in Trigeminal Neuralgia: Evidence, Experience, and Outcomes”
During the scientific session, Dr. Rath delivered an enlightening presentation comparing two key interventional pain procedures — Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) and Percutaneous Balloon Compression (PBC) — used in the treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia, a chronic and severe facial pain condition.

- Understanding Trigeminal Neuralgia: Dr. Rath explained the underlying causes, symptoms, and impact of trigeminal neuralgia on patients’ quality of life.
- Comparing RFA and PBC Techniques: His discussion provided evidence-based insights into both procedures, highlighting differences in efficacy, recovery time, and long-term outcomes.
- Evidence & Clinical Experience: Drawing from his extensive experience at Pain Free Odisha, Dr. Rath shared real-world case studies demonstrating how RFA offers targeted nerve treatment with minimal invasiveness and faster recovery.
- Outcome-Based Discussion: The talk emphasized patient-centric outcomes, precision in intervention, and the growing role of image-guided pain management in achieving long-term relief.
The AGPUCON 1.0 International Conference & Workshop, organized by the Department of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine and Critical Care, AIIMS Gorakhpur, in collaboration with the Society for Study of Pain – Gorakhpur City Branch, brought together pain specialists from across India.The event was skillfully led by Dr. Santosh Kumar Sharma (Chairman) and Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma (Secretary), whose thoughtful coordination and hospitality made it a remarkable academic platform for knowledge exchange.
